Corporate Tennis League
Match Rules
The teams will abide by the Rules of Tennis and the Code for un-officiated
matches. Copies of "Friend at Court" which includes both
can be obtained at the USTA store for $5.00 on usta.com.
All players and captains must register on the metrotennis web site if they play at least one match for the team.
Former Division 1 college players are not permitted to play on Intermediate teams. Those teams must play Advanced Intermediate or Advanced level.
All team matches consist of :
1 Women’s Singles
1 Men’s Singles
1 Women’s Doubles
1 Men’s Doubles
2 Mixed Doubles
All matches are played on two courts assigned to the two teams
by the league coordinator on-site before the match. As one match
finishes, teams move on to the next match on that court as soon
as players are available from their previous match. Thus 3 matches
are played on each court during the evening. A minimum of 4 players,
2 of each sex, is required to compete in all matches. If a team
only has one player of a particular sex, that player will be allowed
to play both mixed doubles matches, one after the other, and thus
default only the women's or men's doubles match. All matches begin with a 20-30 minute warm-up
for all players.
After that there are no warm-ups.
2 cans of balls will be supplied for each 2 hour team match.
Format
Each match consists of regular no-ad set. The receiving team decides which player
will receive serve on the no-ad point. At 5-5 a regular tiebreaker will be played.
All game points are cumulative through the season.
All teams are sent blank scorecards with the final schedule.
Please try to remember to print it out and fill it in through the
evening. Please make sure you turn in your scorecard to the league
coordinator who is present at the match.
The first matches played will be the Men's and Women's singles,
followed by Men's and Women's Doubles, followed by the Mixed Doubles.
If both teams agree, they may change this order, but Mixed Doubles must be
played last.
Substitutions can be made at any point in a match. A player who
has already been substituted for cannot re-enter that same match.
If a captain is playing a match, the player(s) on the other court
will have the final word on whether they will be replaced. Coaching
is allowed on change-overs only.
The results page is updated each week on the www.metrotennis.com web site.
The top teams from each of the intermediate divisions will meet in quarterfinal and
semi final playoffs. Those winning teams will play off for the Intermediate League Championship at the end of season party, as will the top four teams in the Advanced and Advanced Intermediate divisions (or the top two teams of each division, in the case of two divisions).
All players competing in the playoffs must have played in at least one match for that team
during the regular season.
The champion of the Advanced league will receive the Corporate League Champion trophy.
The winners of the Advanced Intermediate and Intermediate leagues will receive the
respective Advanced Intermediate or Intermediate Corporate League Champion trophy.
All trophies will be displayed at the companies' respective headquarters until the
end of the following season, when they will be relinquished to the new champions.
The winners of the Intermediate division will move up to the Advanced Intermediate
division the following Fall or Winter season. The winner of the Advanced Intermediate
division will move up to the Advanced division the following Fall or Winter season.
If a team captain is having trouble with their roster for a match
please contact Luis in the Metrotennis office or by email.
Substitutes are available and looking
forward to participating. At least 24hrs notice is requested.
(We try not to
charge a substitute for the evening. If individual team members
have paid for the entry fee instead of the company, and they expect
a refund, then they should try to get their own substitute).
Please join us for food and drinks after the matches.
